OTT, big screen or television: what is the preferred medium of actors? | Bollywood
While the web space is emerging as an equally important medium in the entertainment landscape of late, with theaters and television, actors and audiences alike are spoiled for choice. But actors definitely have a preference when it comes to choosing their preferred medium, which is based on what allows them to connect with their audience in the best possible way. We ask a few actors, who have touched the three mediums, their choice and the reason behind it.
There’s no denying that OTT is the big news these days, and I think it’s only fair that actors feel excited about the type of work that is being done there. For me, if I had to choose, I would definitely say movies. I started with television, then made movies, then moved on to the web, but I have a special place in my heart for the big screen extravagance that is cinema. It gives you a different kind of high.
I would be lying if I could give an answer. Everything has its own advantages and disadvantages. Sabka apna apna mazaa hai. I have been making television and films for a very long time. The point is that naya naya pyaar zyada apna lagta hain and OTT is my new love. I’m just discovering the medium and exploring it, and I really love it. So yeah, OTT is my favorite right now.
I’ve done fiction and non-fiction shows, and I love the reality space on TV. I had a lovely trip on (the dance reality show) Nach Baliye with my wife, Rochelle Rao. The show played a big part in our reunion trip. Whether it’s animation, fiction or reality shows, I love space on TV. Something is brewing in the OTT space for me too, and I’m looking forward to it.
I appreciate the OTT space. Thanks to this medium, I have been so busy, the busiest in all these years. What’s amazing about the platform is that we don’t have to stick to any image or format. There is room for a lot of experimentation and as an actor it is extremely exciting for me. Now is the perfect time to be an actor.
The OTT platforms gave work to many people and the films were broadcast digitally. So I think the web has helped and a lot of great content is presented. I watch very selective movies or shows and personally I always choose theaters over OTT or any other medium. However, I love cinema both as an actor and as an audience, and I don’t want theaters to die out at all.
