Movie night

BAR PORT – The Criterion Theater will present “Cry Macho” with Clint Eastwood September 24-27 at 7pm. The film, rated PG-13 for language and thematic elements, is based on a book about a former rodeo star and beached horse breeder who in 1978 took on the job of an ex-boss to bring back the young son. of man at home and away from his alcoholic mother. Live music

Open microphone at the Grange

LAMOINE – An open microphone will be held at Lamoine Bayside Grange on Saturday, September 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Songs, skits, readings and poetry are welcome. If artists need inspiration, the event will highlight the end of the Victorian era (1890-1901). La Grange will open at 5:30 p.m. and members of the public will be asked to wear a mask and sit at a safe distance.

Hook ‘n I Rugs exhibition

SOUTH-WEST PORT – The Mount Desert Island rug hooking group’s annual exhibit, Hook ‘n I, is on display at the Southwest Harbor Public Library for the remainder of September. The Hook ‘n I group, formed over 13 years ago, meets during the winter months at the local library. The band members created original designs while working from traditional and modern hanging patterns. Many of the exhibits will be available for purchase, with a portion of the sales benefiting the library. Felting course

HILL CITY – ArtWaves will be hosting an in-person Heavenly Felting class on Wednesday, September 29 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at 329 Main Street in Bar Harbor. Celestial felting involves painting with a barbed needle using an array of dyed carded wool and other embellishments. Participants will complete a ready-to-hang piece and gain the knowledge to continue needle felting. All material will be provided to those who register.
