Actress Reese Witherspoon reveals how Legally Blonde 3 was inspired by Top Gun: Maverick
The 46-year-old actress is set to return as Elle Woods in the long-awaited 2003 sequel Legally Blonde 2: red, white and blondesequel to the 2001 original.
She loved how they included a throwback from the first Superior gun film in its sequel which came out more than 30 years after the 1986 original, reports aceshowbiz.com.
She told USA Today, “I still hope that Legally Blonde 3 is going to come together in the right way.”
She added, “It’s like Superior gun. They’ve waited a long time to make another version of this movie, and I loved the bit of nostalgia they put into it.”
“So that definitely gave us a lot of inspiration about what we would want to do with Elle Woods and make sure we had all of those same touchstones that mattered to people (at the time).”

Witherspoon says the characters are so dear to her that she wants to make sure the move is perfect.
She added, “I feel like these characters are my friends, so I protect them. I would never do the mediocre, mediocre version of their story.”
